Occasionally we'd like to change the past because of regrets, though this would completely change who we are. The past few years have been very trying for me. A lot of events had taken place, and sent me down a road I should never have gone down. The events themselves need not be spoken of; the affects that occurred due to them are the focal point. I had become severely depressed. I could have cared less about what anyone thought of me or what would happen to me. I became careless in my everyday decisions that should have come easy to me.
My friendships suffered, my relationships suffered, as well as my career as a student. Because of these things, my parents became more and more persistent with me, which only led me to run away from home. Shortly after, I was found and forced to return home, regardless of my reasons for doing so. Now, I can say that I have turned my life around. Some things from the past few years still haunt me to this day, but I'm able to cope with them thanks to the help I received from people who do care about me. I have been going to school on as much of a regular basis as possible considering my low immune system, I'm doing my school work, I've become social again, and rekindled the bonds between my friends and myself. Someone hearing this story could consider me a bad person for doing what I had done, which I have no disagreement with, but they must also see that those events have made me who I am today.
Granted, I could have become who I am through other means, but I don't believe that they could have made me as wise as I am. She was seeing another year that I chose to choose my extra curricular activities over my future, another year full of excuses, another year of coming home to no studying more attitude and disappointments. And although all that may be true, that was the first time in my high school career that I ever got honor roll. Even though, afterwards I slipped tremendously and spent the rest of the year trying to get back to honor roll my mother, sister and I couldn't have seen that…. I thought there has to be something they forgot and have to turn around.
I do not usually use my phone while at work but at this moment, I did. I immediately dropped to the floor crying, and not knowing anything. Lauren and my boss were so confused, they hugged me while I sobbed and told them what I knew. My junior year was the worst year of my life. I found messages on my father 's phone from another woman, and told my mother. This caused my parents to separate, and in the end get divorced. Both of my parents became depressed, they were miserable all the time and argued constantly, and I was always the middle man.
I wanted the madness to stop, but it never did. The Grades Challenge Freshman year was a difficult year for my grades. I was failing a few classes and it seemed like the harder I focused on the percentage, the farther I got away from it. Overall, the two and a half years I spent in high school, I lacked the support of my peers, teachers and parents. Without the support I craved and needed, it interfered with my performance at school. My first year of high school, I wouldn 't say I was popular,…. This year I have matured enough, I think I am ready for high school now. I may not have made changes throughout the world, but I did make changes throughout myself. Last year, I was not motivated to do anything.
I thought I was not good enough. My grades were fine, it was just outside of school activities. But, you can control what you have right now. My grades in school started to get very bad. While it was an honors class and I understood that it would be difficult for me to adjust, my grade kept dropping. Eventually, I was forced to move down to a lower level. I was devastated. I was crying, crying so much, for not being able to be there during his final moments. It is something I regret doing this day. I remember crying, but still clinging on to that tiny ray of hope that he was still alive and they were mistaken about him being dead. Then came the day for his funeral. His body was released and it was being transported to our house for funeral arrangements. I stood there, with my eyes wide open, they brought his coffin, and I simply remembered crying non-stop. They opened the coffin, and there he was. Once, my strong, kind and loving grandpa slept there so peacefully. Waiting for him to get up, tell me, they mistook him for being dead, for him to embrace me and tell me everything was okay.
He was gone. The amount of pain I felt is indescribable. One of the biggest regrets is that I was unable to listen to his experiences. He loved me and my little brother. He treasured us so much and gave up everything he could. He was an organized man. When I visited his house, after he passed away, everything was neatly packed and cleared away. I remembered getting to the house and breaking down again. I went to his room and it was so dark. His towel and clothes were there. I remember clutching on to them so hard. I loved him so much. Before, the house was so full of light, when we approached the house with our car, he would always run out and wait for us to get out the car, so he can give us a warm embrace.
I miss him so much. There, lay his coffin, under the ground. Words cannot describe what I felt. It was the realization that he was gone, spiritually and physically. My uncle then picked me up and took me away. I was depressed. Of course, I got over it over time. I miss him every day. I wish he was still alive. Currently, I have all the letters and photographs. I look at them and cry each time. If I could go back in time, I would like to meet him, tell him that I am his grandson from the future and listen to his experiences. I regret not listening to his experiences and not telling him that I loved him before he passed away.
